Top 10 Scholarships And Grants For Graduate Nursing Students

In the field of nursing, there are many chances for advancement. Many students who enroll in nursing courses decide to continue their education after receiving an associate’s or bachelor’s. A nursing student can study all the way up to a doctorate or Master’s degree if they wish.

Here is a list of some of the scholarship programs available at the graduate level. This list is in no particular order, and does not cater to any geographical or personal preference. It is simply a tool, so that a person knows where to start looking.

The Nurses Educational Funds Scholarship is available to any nursing student who wishes to pursue a graduate degree. Applicants must carry a minimum GPA of 3.6 to be considered. Applicants should also be a member in good standing with the NEF. There are various awards, for both part time and full time graduate students. More information and application instructions can be found on the website.

The Exceptional Nurse Scholarship Committee makes several scholarship awards available to nursing students who wish to receive a graduates degree. These scholarships and grants are for students who have disabilities, that have received an associate’s degree or its equivalent in the field of nursing.

The March Of Dimes provides annual scholarships to nursing students wishing to pursue a graduates degree. Preference is given to those students who wish to specialize in Maternal Care Nursing. An applicant can only receive this scholarship once in their academic career.

The AACN (American Association of Critical Care Nurses) offers a variety of scholarships to nursing students who are seeking to extend their education to the graduate level. The AACN specializes in scholarships for critical care nurses. Recipients must be enrolled in an accredited university, and must also be AACN members in good standing.

The Emergency Nurses Association offers scholarships to nurses and nursing students, so they can can continue their education past the graduate level. Applicants are required to have a 3.0 GPA. Recipients are required to join the Emergency Nurses Association for one year.

The American Academy of Nursing provides two scholarships for nursing students who are undertaking graduate work. These scholarships are focused on the area of geriatric care. These scholarships can cover up $100,000 in educational expenses during a period not to exceed two years.

The Daughters of the American Revolution provide several scholarships to nursing students seeking a graduate level diploma. DAR offers scholarships in several areas of nursing, including psychiatry, and acute care nursing degrees.

The Patricia Smith Christensen Scholarship is awarded to a graduate student who is pursuing a degree in either maternity or pediatrics. Typically this award is for $1000 a year per academic quarter. Students must demonstrate academic excellence in order to receive this award.

AfterCollege.com has partnered with the AACN to offer nursing students a chance to study for their doctorate or master’s degrees. Successful applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 in order to be considered. Applicants must also be members of the AACN in good standing, as well as be enrolled in an accredited institution or program.

The Global Scholarship Alliance offers nursing scholarships to nursing students who wish to continue their education. This award is available to students from all countries. Applicants must enroll in a GSA-approved institution or course of study. Applicants must also agree to work with Global Scholarship Alliance in an area that is suffering from a critical shortage of educated nurses. This service is only for one full year, and in exchange all educational costs within reason are paid by the GSA.
